The release of fertilizer is not uniform, and the release rate of nutrient is not necessarily in full synchronization with the nutrient demand of crops. At the same time, most of the slow-release fertilizer is monomer fertilizer, mainly nitrogen fertilizer.

However, the controlled-release fertilizer is mainly N-P-K compound fertilizer or total nutrient fertilizer with microelements. When applied to the soil, its release rate is only affected by the soil temperature. But soil temperature also has a great impact on the growth rate of plants. In a relatively large temperature range, with the increase of soil temperature, the release rate of controlled-release fertilizer is accelerated.
