The concept of chemical fertilizers:


Chemical fertilizers refer to minerals, air and water as raw materials, which are chemically processed into substances containing nutrients required for plant growth, referred to as chemical fertilizers. The nutrients necessary for crops are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, etc. Among them, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are required in large quantities. Therefore, nitrogen fertilizers, phosphate fertilizers, and potassium fertilizers are the most important chemical fertilizers. In addition, there are compound fertilizers that contain two or more nutrient elements at the same time, and trace element fertilizers that require a relatively small amount during plant growth.

Common chemical fertilizers:


  1. Nitrogen fertilizer


①Function: Nitrogen is an important element in the synthesis of protein, nucleic acid and chlorophyll. Adequate nitrogen fertilizer will make plants flourish and have large fruits. The lack of nitrogen will slow down or stagnate plant growth and development, and slow down photosynthesis. The appearance is that the plant is short and thin, the leaves are yellow, and the veins are brown in severe cases.

②Characteristics of nitrogen fertilizer

a. The mixture of nitrogen salt and alkali can produce a colorless, pungent odor gas, which can make the wet red litmus paper turn blue. For example: NaOH+NH4NO3=NaNO3+H2O+NH3↑, when testing the root ion (NH4+), soluble alkali and red litmus paper are required.

b. Ammonia water is an aqueous solution of ammonia gas. Most of the ammonia gas dissolved in water reacts with water to form ammonia monohydrate. Ammonia monohydrate is ionized in water to generate ammonium and hydroxide ions. Since the anions present in ammonia water are all OH-, ammonia water is alkaline, and ammonia monohydrate belongs to alkalis. Please note that ammonia water usually refers to ammonia monohydrate (NH3·H2O) produced by dissolving ammonia gas in water. Do not write the chemical formula of ammonia water as NH4OH, because there is no NH4OH in ammonia water.

c. Hydrogen carbonate is decomposed by heating: NH4HCO3==NH3↑+CO2↑+H2O↑.

③ Nitrogen fixation A method of converting nitrogen gas into nitrogen compounds. For example: Rhizobium bacteria in the roots of legumes can convert nitrogen in the air into nitrogenous compounds, and these plants need no or only a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer.

2. Phosphate fertilizer


①Role: Phosphorus can promote crop growth and enhance cold and drought resistance. If phosphorus is lacking, it is often manifested as slow growth and reduced yield, but excessive phosphorus will cause crops to become greedy and late, and the seed setting rate will decrease. The appearance shows that the plant is particularly short and the leaves appear purple.

② Common phosphate fertilizers include rock phosphate [Ca3(PO4)2], calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer (phosphate of calcium and magnesium), superphosphate [a mixture of calcium dihydrogen phosphate Ca(H2PO4)2 and CaSO4], etc.

3. Potash fertilizer


①Function: Potassium fertilizer can ensure the smooth progress of various metabolic processes, promote plant life, and enhance resistance to diseases and insect pests and lodging resistance. If there is a lack of potassium, the stems are often weak and prone to lodging, and the edges and tips of the leaves are brown and gradually scorched.

② Common potash fertilizers include potassium sulfate (K2SO4), potassium chloride (KCl) and plant ash (the main component is K2CO3).

4.Compound fertilizer


Fertilizers containing two or two soil nutrients.

①Characteristics It can evenly supply several nutrients to crops at the same time, give full play to the complementary role of nutrients, and have high effective components.

②Types of phosphoric acid [a mixture of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate NH4H2PO4 and hydrogen phosphate (NH4)2HPO4', potassium nitrate (KNO3).
